The Death of Large Medium Publications
And why you should stop reading them, and writing for them.
Yes, I know the cat doesn’t have much to do with what I want to say, but that’s the level of low I was willing to stoop to to get you to read this.
Big publications have lost their ability to engage readers effectively, and they’re killing Medium.
Well, first question, you might ask is… Why did you publish this in a publication then? Here’s my honest answer:
I don’t have enough followers to have the impact that I want this story to have.
And I know your next question is going to be, So why then, did you publish it in a publication that has ZERO followers? Here’s another honest answer:
Because I want to grow the publication.
I may even just be able to guess your third question now, But isn’t the point of this article to show why big publications don’t work anymore?
You’re absolutely right it is. I do want to do that. But I also want to change the way publications operate and publish, so we can keep the integrity of Medium as a platform intact.
